The Role of our Committee
The Committee consists of elected officers and up to twelve full or co-opted members who meet on a regular basis to discuss the management of the Society, with an AGM held in March each year.
The meetings follow a formal agenda covering ongoing topics such as Training rota’s, Club matches & the provision of Judges, finances, Kennel Club communications etc. with additional matters, according to the activities the Club is engaged in at various times throughout the year. These include the organisation of Companion, Limit & Open shows, Christmas & New Year Parties, Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards.
There is also a Showing sub-committee which meets on a regular basis to discuss, agree and formulate specific points in the organisation and management of all the shows which would consume too much time during normal Committee meetings. The sub-committee reports back this information at the subsequent full meeting.
Our Committee members are also actively involved with the Obedience and Ring Craft Training sessions held on a Wednesday and Thursday night, which offers direct experience and advice to our members in Obedience or Showing techniques.
Whilst there is a small Training charge, which is used for the running cost and administration of the Society, all of our Trainers time and expertise is provided on a voluntary basis. All our Trainers covering either Ring Craft or Obedience follow the recommendations of The Kennel Club for Showing and the Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
